Boquete : Boquete is a very popular destination for Panamanians escaping the heat of the lower areas, and ex-pats relocating to Panama to live. Located 25 miles east from David, and 293 miles from Panama City, it is a refreshing change from those two metropolitan areas, in both temperature and pace of living. The area offers a wide range of outdoor activities, ranging from bird watching to white water rafting and kayaking. You can also avail of biking and horseback riding, and relaxing in hot mineral springs. Boquete Fairgrounds : The fairgrounds just across the river from the central town square is host to the huge annual Feria de las Flores y del Cafe (Flowers and Coffee Festival). This internationally acclaimed festival is held in mid-January, drawing thousands of visitors. On Easter Sunday April 24, 2011 the floral displays and crowds were much smaller, but still very beautiful. Local artists were on hand to sell their hand made native costumes and elegant jewelry, on a delightful sunny afternoon. Boquete is in Chiriqui province, in the northern area of Panama, a short drive from David which is the capital of the province. Hope you enjoy the photos taken while strolling through the grounds.
